Lathe machines are one of the simplest and most commonly used machine in metal working industry. The metal removing operation carried out on lathe machines is called turning. Lathe machines are used for removing surplus amount of material from a work piece to create a round cross section product.
In a lathe machine a fixed cutting tool is fed against a rotating work piece. The work piece is held on the head stock of the machine where the job can be clamped using one of the commonly used clamping devices like a chuck or a collet. When the machine is switched on the clamping device along with work rotates. The curring tool is fixed on a movable slide which can be fed against the job as well as along the job which enable it to remove material from the periphery of the work as well as the length of the job.

Who is interested in metal detectors? Are you a treasure hunter or a person worried about the security? In either case metal detectors help to make our life easy. You might have seen the metal detectors in Airports and in shopping malls which are used for security puposes. There is also a completly different industry which is interested in metal detectors. They are hobbyists and treasure hunters who are in search of precious metals. Today metal detectors come in various shapes, sizes and capacity to suite the needs of the user. Whites metal detectors are very popular among users. The Whites electronics started way back in 1950 during the uranium craze. Today Whites is probably the largest manufactures of metal detectors. Whites produces metal detectors for all the industries including security, electronics and the hobby metal detectors.
